Assistant conductor Evan Wichman is the inaugural director of the choral program at Maspeth High School in Elmhurst, New York. His duties there include writing curriculum for and teaching chorus and AP Music Theory classes, directing the a cappella group, and serving as music director for the musical. He regularly prepares students for adjudication and performance in honors ensembles. In addition, he is the advisor for the Tri-M Music Honor Society at Maspeth, which performs in nursing homes, supports the WQXR Instrument Drive, and raises funds for school music programs. Mr. Wichman is a member of Carnegie Hall’s Music Educators workshop. He also serves as a section leader in the Young New Yorkers’ Chorus. Professionally, he is an active member of the American Choral Directors Association and the National Association for Music Education. He holds a Masters in Music in Choral Conducting from Emory University, where he studied under Eric Nelson. He graduated with a Bachelors of Music in Music Education summa cum laude from Syracuse University.
